Islamabad: Pakistan has summoned the Indian Charge d’Affaires to lodge a protest over an incident involving an Indian Navy vessel operating in Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The confrontation occurred during Pakistan’s biennial naval exercise, SEASPARK-26, when the Indian vessel reportedly engaged in maneuvers that led to contact with a Pakistani naval ship.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the event as a violation of international law and the 1991 bilateral agreement concerning military exercises and maneuvers. The incident has raised concerns about escalating regional tensions.

Pakistan has urged the Indian government, through its Charge d’Affaires, to adhere to international law and respect bilateral agreements aimed at preventing maritime incidents. The Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi is also set to present a demarche to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

The situation underscores Pakistan’s call for international intervention to urge India to abandon what it perceives as a confrontational approach. Pakistan stresses the importance of stability in South Asia and warns against actions that might provoke further conflict.
