Islamabad: Pakistan Navy commemorated Navy Day with national fervor, reflecting on the valor of its naval warriors during the 1965 War and honoring the enduring legacy of courage, professional excellence, and sacrifice upheld by successive generations in defense of the nation.
According to Radio Pakistan, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf emphasized in his Navy Day message the significance of Operation Somnath. The operation, he stated, exemplified how a determined maritime force, driven by courage and conviction, could achieve decisive outcomes despite facing numerical and material challenges. He noted that the legacy of valor established during Operation Somnath persists, as evidenced by the Pakistan Navy’s successful deterrence against the Indian Navy during Marka-e-Haq.
The day commenced with Quran Khawani and special prayers for the Shuhada. Admiral Ashraf laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument in Naval Headquarters Islamabad and met with the families of the Shuhada, acknowledging their sacrifices and resilience. Commemorative events were held nationwide to honor the occasion.
