Karachi, The Pakistan Navy (PN) and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) have announced the successful recovery of the remaining bodies of the fishermen from the capsized boat Al-Assad, marking a significant achievement in the search and rescue (SAR) operation that began on March 5, 2024. This joint effort involved extensive deployment of aircraft, helicopters, ships, and speed boats under challenging conditions to locate and recover all missing fishermen.
According to Pakistan Navy, this operation followed the tragic capsizing of the fishing boat Al-Assad, which had 45 crew members onboard, in the open sea off Hajmbro creek on March 5 due to inclement weather. The determined and continuous SAR operation led to the recovery of all 14 missing fishermen, with 10 bodies being found and recovered from the sea yesterday and the remaining recovered today.
The successful conclusion of this operation demonstrates the Pakistan Navy and PMSA’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the rescue and safety of seafarers and civilians at sea.
