Islamabad, A collaborative effort between the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA) has resulted in the launch of an advanced seed potato sale, promoting agricultural development through innovative technologies.
According to Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, the partnership has initiated the “Pakistan-Korea Joint Program on Certified Seed Potato Production System.” The program utilizes tissue culture and aeroponic technology to produce healthy Pre-Basic-I(G1) seed potatoes of the Lady Rosetta variety. This high-quality seed, certified by FSC and RD, is now available for purchase by interested parties, including farmers, seed companies, and research organizations. The initiative aims to enhance the quality and yield of potato crops in Pakistan through the distribution of these certified seeds.
The sale announcement specifies that applications for the seed having all necessary information, such as previous experience, should be submitted to the Coordinator KOPIA, NARC Islamabad by March 20th, 2024. Furthermore, successful applicants will be required to multiply the seed at least two times and will receive one day of mandatory training at PARC-KOPIA, along with the obligation to share cultivation records and other pertinent data.
