Peshawar: Customs Enforcement staff at JCP Yarik seized a large cache of arms and ammunition, along with the offending vehicle, with an estimated value of Rs32 million. Acting on credible information, Customs staff intercepted the vehicle at Sidra Sharif. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.
According to Press Information Department: The seized arms included 4 M4 (5.56mm) rifles from the USA, 2 G-III rifles with one magazine, 42 Maghull PMAG D-60 magazines, 20 empty M4 magazines, 40 empty AK-47 magazines, 18 Tissa Zigara pistols from Turkey with two magazines each, 30 Beretta pistols (25 USA-made and 5 Italy-made), 2 unmarked shot pistols and 120 Chinese-made 30-bore pistols.
The seized ammunition comprised 900 AK-47 rounds (711/10), 2,700 AK-47 rounds, 3,500 rounds of 30-bore pistol ammunition and 1,600 12-bore Pak Shaheen cartridges.
The arms, ammunition, and vehicle have been taken into official custody. Legal proceedings under the relevant law are underway, while efforts continue to trace and apprehend the fleeing driver.
