NEW YORK: Pakistan has denounced the recent gang attacks in Haiti, calling for international intervention to overcome logistical barriers that hinder the deployment of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) in the region. The call for action was made during an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council convened to address the deteriorating security situation in Haiti.
According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, emphasized the need for the global community to support Haitian-led security efforts by resolving logistical issues that have delayed the full deployment of the GSF. Ahmad’s remarks come at a time when Haiti faces escalating violence from armed gangs, exacerbating the country’s ongoing political and humanitarian crises.
The Security Council meeting underscored the urgency of international collaboration to restore stability and security in Haiti. Ahmad’s appeal highlights Pakistan’s commitment to global peace and security, urging member states to contribute to a coordinated response in addressing the challenges faced by the Haitian government and its people.
