Pakistan Challenges India’s Actions in Jammu and Kashmir at UN Debate

New York: During a heated debate at the United Nations General Assembly on the “Responsibility to Protect (R2P),” Pakistan’s second secretary to the mission, Rabia Ijaz, articulated strong opposition to India’s annexation of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the action will never be accepted by Kashmiris.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ijaz responded to remarks by the Indian delegation, emphasizing that the Jammu and Kashmir issue remains an internationally recognized dispute. She called for international efforts to alleviate the suffering of Kashmiris by supporting their right to self-determination as outlined in the UN Charter and various UN Security Council resolutions.

Ijaz criticized India for presenting what she termed “fabricated assertions” during the debate and highlighted the plight of Indian minorities who face daily persecution. She contrasted Pakistan’s condemnation and quick action against incidents of religious violence within its borders with the Indian leadership’s alleged escalation of communal tensions.
