Rawalpindi: In a significant development, the Formation Commanders Conference concluded with a firm resolve to continue efforts against terrorists, their facilitators, and abettors allegedly backed by hostile forces aiming to destabilize Pakistan. The two-day conference, chaired by Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, took place in Rawalpindi and focused on a range of security and operational issues.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the conference highlighted the need for intensified operations against terrorist factions within Balochistan, including the BLA Majeed Brigade. It also called for the government to implement strict laws to curb the misuse of freedom of expression which, it alleged, is used to spread misinformation and foster division.
The forum expressed concerns over the spread of fake news driven by political and financial motives and stressed the importance of identifying and prosecuting those responsible. It reiterated the Army’s commitment to serving the nation impartially, safeguarding against internal and external threats, and opposing any efforts to incite violence for vested interests.
The commanders addressed the negative propaganda following the Army’s lawful deployment in the capital, aimed at ensuring the security of vital government facilities and visiting delegations. They attributed this campaign to certain political elements and external influences, designed to create discord between the public and the Armed Forces.
In addition, the conference condemned human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri cause. Solidarity with the Palestinian people was also expressed, alongside condemnation of the violence in Gaza.
Participants reviewed the current security landscape and assessed the Army’s readiness to face both conventional and unconventional threats. The ongoing use of Afghan territory by terrorist groups, particularly Fitna Al Khwarij, was noted with concern, urging the Afghan government to prevent such activities.
The conference underscored the Army’s role in supporting socioeconomic initiatives in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, highlighting its commitment to fostering economic growth and disrupting the terror-crime nexus. The Army Chief emphasized the importance of professionalism and operational preparedness in maintaining national security and stability.
The event commenced with tributes to the martyrs of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, and citizens who sacrificed their lives for the country’s security. The conference was attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, and all Formation Commanders of the Pakistan Army.
