Pakistan and Türkiye Strengthen Defence Cooperation

ISTANBUL: Pakistan and Türkiye have agreed to bolster their defence collaboration following a high-profile meeting between Pakistan’s Minister of Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Türkiye’s Minister of National Defence, Yasar Güler. The discussions took place in Istanbul ahead of the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee, part of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement that includes Saudi Arabia as well.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting underscored a mutual commitment to enhance joint defence efforts in the region. General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, was also in attendance, signifying the importance of the bilateral discussions. The agreement to enhance defence cooperation is seen as a strategic move to strengthen regional security ties among the participating countries.
