ISLAMABAD: A recent survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan reveals that an overwhelming 93% of Pakistani parents report that their children have never complained about unfairness or mistreatment at school. Among the minority of parents who did report complaints, issues with teachers’ behavior and misbehavior by other children were identified as the leading concerns.

According to Gilani Research Foundation, the survey is part of an ongoing series titled “Understanding the School Landscape in Pakistan.” The study involved a nationally representative sample of parents, with 7% indicating that their children had complained about unfairness or mistreatment. Of these complaints, 38% were related to teachers’ behavior, while 31% involved misbehavior by other students. Additionally, 6% of complaints pertained to school administration, 11% to other issues, and 14% of respondents were unsure.

The survey, conducted via telephonic interviews with 1,415 married men and women across urban and rural areas of Pakistan’s four provinces, highlights differences in the types of complaints reported between urban and rural respondents. The data collection took place from March 18 to March 31, 2026, with a margin of error of approximately ±2-3 percent at the 95% confidence level.

The findings suggest that instances of reported unfairness or mistreatment in Pakistani schools are relatively rare, but when they do occur, they predominantly involve interactions with teachers and peers.
