ISTANBUL: Pakistan and Türkiye are set to enhance their bilateral relationship into a dynamic economic partnership, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Speaking at the Pakistan-Türkiye B2B Conference in Istanbul, Dar emphasized the two nations’ commitment to shaping a shared future, highlighting their roles as partners in prosperity, innovation, and regional stability.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dar underscored the longstanding political trust between Pakistan and Türkiye, noting their united front on issues of regional peace, security, and humanitarian assistance. He advocated for translating this trust into economic collaboration, leveraging their strategic geographic location to connect markets across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
The Deputy Prime Minister outlined Pakistan’s ambitious reform agenda focused on macroeconomic stability, investor confidence, and a conducive business environment. He invited Turkish investors to explore opportunities in various sectors, including energy, information technology, and the defense industry, promising significant potential for investment and job creation.
Energy Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari discussed Pakistan’s structural reforms in the power sector, highlighting a 45 percent reduction in distribution inefficiencies. He elaborated on privatization efforts and the introduction of competitive electricity markets, offering substantial investment opportunities in the modernization of metering systems and transmission infrastructure.
Information Technology and Telecommunication Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja highlighted the growth of Pakistan’s IT exports, which have reached $4.5 billion, driven by freelancers and over 26,000 IT companies. She pointed to investment prospects in cybersecurity, semiconductors, and data centers, noting Pakistan’s position as a major provider of outsourced services with a young, tech-savvy population.
The conference underscored the mutual benefits of a strengthened economic alliance between Pakistan and Türkiye, as both nations aim to navigate the rapidly changing international landscape and capitalize on their strategic advantages.
