Pakistan and Turkiye Commit to Deepening Defence Cooperation


Islamabad: Pakistan and Turkiye have pledged to further reinforce their defence partnership, following a meeting between General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, and Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting underscored the longstanding and brotherly relations between the two nations, which are rooted in shared history, mutual trust, and robust people-to-people ties. General Tokel acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability and emphasized the significance of the Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Military Dialogue Group as a platform for bolstering defence, military, and defence-industrial cooperation.



The Turkish commander reiterated Turkiye’s commitment to regional peace and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts. Meanwhile, Minister Asif expressed gratitude for Turkiye’s unwavering support, particularly in difficult times.



Discussions during the meeting covered various areas of mutual interest, with both sides agreeing to explore additional avenues for enhancing defence collaboration. The session concluded with a mutual resolve to strengthen the enduring defence partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye.
