ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the People’s Majlis of the Maldives, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, led a parliamentary delegation to the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday for an official visit aimed at bolstering bilateral relations between Pakistan and the Maldives. The delegation, welcomed by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, engaged in discussions focused on enhancing parliamentary linkages and cooperation.

According to the National Assembly of Pakistan, the meeting underscored a mutual commitment to strengthening institutional ties between the legislatures of the two countries. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted the importance of the visit in reinforcing the relationship and expressed Pakistan’s desire to expand parliamentary cooperation. He also emphasized the role of the Pak-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship Group and various parliamentary forums in fostering collaboration.

Abdul Raheem Abdulla expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged Pakistan’s support during the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference in Cape Town. He reiterated the Maldives’ commitment to its friendly relations with Pakistan. The meeting was attended by members of the National Assembly, including the Convener of the Pak-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship Group, Shaista Khan, and other parliamentarians.
