New York: Pakistan and Libya have expressed a mutual interest in enhancing their bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, education, and business-to-business exchanges. The intention to strengthen these ties was articulated during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Libya’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Al-Taher Al Baour. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions between the two officials also covered significant regional and international developments, particularly the situation in the Middle East. They considered the potential implications for regional peace, energy supplies, and the global economy, which could notably impact developing countries.

The Libyan Foreign Minister praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering regional peace and stability. In response, Deputy Prime Minister Dar emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as essential tools for addressing regional challenges. He also highlighted the necessity for all parties to return to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding to further regional stability.
