Pakistan and Italy Agree on Collaborative Efforts to Combat Drug Trafficking and Illegal Immigration

Rome, In a significant development, Pakistan and Italy have pledged to intensify their cooperative efforts against illegal immigration, human, and drug trafficking. This agreement was reached during a meeting in Rome between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Italian counterpart, Matteo Piantedosi, with the presence of Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting focused on establishing a comprehensive action plan aimed at curbing the flow of illegal migrants and the menace of drug trafficking. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to implementing effective measures to ensure tighter border security and to facilitate the legal movement of people and goods between the two countries.

Minister Naqvi highlighted the proactive steps already undertaken by Pakistan to prevent illegal entries into Italy, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards human and drug trafficking. He also noted the importance of these efforts in safeguarding both Pakistani and Italian communities.

Minister Hussain pointed out the potential benefits for Italy from Pakistan’s skilled workforce, advocating for the speedy finalization of a Skilled Manpower Agreement to help deter illegal immigration and bolster legal workforce exchanges.

Italian Interior Minister Piantedosi confirmed Italy’s readiness to support Pakistan in enhancing border security and combating cross-border criminal activities, highlighting the shared benefits of such cooperation.

The collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing security protocols to combat global issues of trafficking and illegal migration.
