ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Egypt have agreed to strengthen their agricultural cooperation, focusing on improving cotton yield and quality. In a meeting held in Islamabad, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, discussed potential areas of collaboration with the Egyptian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting focused on leveraging Egypt’s expertise in cotton varieties, quality seed, crop management, and value addition to support Pakistan’s cotton sector. Minister Hussain emphasized the importance of Egypt’s practical experience and technological advancements in areas such as water-efficient irrigation, seed development, biotechnology, climate-smart agriculture, mechanization, livestock, and horticulture.
Ambassador Hassan welcomed the proposal and expressed Egypt’s willingness to enhance agricultural ties with Pakistan. He assured that Egyptian institutions would be encouraged to explore opportunities for mutual benefit in the agricultural sector.
