Islamabad: Pakistan and China discussed the expansion of their development cooperation, focusing on material assistance, construction projects, technology support, and local capacity building. The discussions took place during a meeting between Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, Industries, and Production, and a delegation from the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE).

According to Press Information Department, the Chinese delegation was led by Ms. Li Shuyin, Deputy Director General of CICETE from the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Nasir Hamid, Additional Secretary (Trade Diplomacy) from Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce, and representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.

The meeting reviewed the current state of Chinese development cooperation in Pakistan and explored prospective initiatives to support Pakistan’s development goals. The Chinese delegation expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s cooperation and facilitation in implementing these development initiatives.

Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan acknowledged CICETE’s role in Pakistan’s development, particularly highlighting its efforts in community-focused projects in Balochistan. He noted the significant presence CICETE has established in Pakistan and emphasized the potential for continued cooperation to strengthen Pakistan-China relations.

Discussions also covered material assistance and construction-related projects, with an emphasis on leveraging Chinese expertise, technology, and resources in alignment with Pakistan’s development priorities. The Coordinator stressed the need for sustained institutional engagement to ensure timely project implementation, strengthen local capacities, and identify new areas of mutual interest.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to advancing practical and mutually beneficial development cooperation.
