Islamabad: Pakistan Air Force Day is being observed today across the country, with nationwide tributes to the valour and sacrifices of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) heroes and a renewed resolve to safeguard the nation’s skies. The day serves as a remembrance of the officers and airmen who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the country, as well as a recognition of the PAF’s distinguished record in protecting Pakistan’s aerial frontiers.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Pakistan Air Force’s decisive role in the 1965 war and its performance in Marka-e-Haq in May 2025 are emblematic of its combat ability and professional excellence. During the 1965 conflict, Pakistani pilots, despite limited resources, successfully repelled Indian air attacks and dealt a significant defeat to India, demonstrating exceptional skill in aerial combat and steadfast courage.

Among the celebrated heroes is PAF ace Muhammad Mahmood Alam, known as M. M. Alam, who famously shot down five Indian Air Force Hawker Hunter Mk. 56 fighters in less than a minute. This feat remains a testament to the expertise and bravery of the PAF personnel.
