Pakistan Aims for Digital Development, Finance Minister Highlights Digital Stack Initiative

Islamabad, Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar has expressed the government’s commitment to developing Pakistan along digital lines, emphasizing the role of digital stack partnerships in this transformation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Akhtar, while addressing the ‘Pakistan Digital Stack’ workshop in Islamabad, underscored the importance of digital payments in empowering citizens and entrepreneurs. She highlighted that digital transactions offer timeliness and convenience, significantly contributing to financial inclusion, gender empowerment, poverty reduction, and governance transparency.

The Finance Minister pointed out the immense potential of the Digital Stack initiative, which is expected to facilitate millions of Pakistanis in their daily transactions. Dr. Akhtar stressed the project’s significance for Pakistan’s development and assured that all resources would be utilized for its success.

Dr. Akhtar also commended the initiatives of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Karandaz in creating and implementing the digital stack in Pakistan, recognizing their contributions to this critical development project.
