KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has called for the acceleration of 10 major infrastructure and road development projects in Karachi, with an investment exceeding Rs10 billion, to alleviate traffic congestion, enhance urban connectivity, and improve drainage systems across the city.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting, held at the CM House, brought together key officials, including Local Government Minister Nasir Shah, Planning & Development Minister Jam Khan Shoro, and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, to discuss the progress of these initiatives. The projects, executed by the Karachi Development Authority under the Local Government Department, aim to provide modern road infrastructure and address traffic challenges in the rapidly growing metropolis.

Chief Minister Shah emphasized the necessity of timely completion, maintaining construction quality, and adopting long-term urban planning strategies. Among the projects reviewed were the Rs2.5 billion flyover at Power House Chowrangi in North Karachi and the Rs2.377 billion 4-K Chowrangi Flyover. Both projects are designed to ease congestion and ensure traffic flows smoothly, with the former allowing 80% of through traffic to utilize the elevated structure.

In addition to these flyovers, the meeting covered the rehabilitation of roads in Clifton, the construction of an alternate corridor from Malir Court to Landhi, and the reconstruction of Mehrun Nisa Hospital Road. Each project is designed to improve connectivity and access, reduce congestion, and enhance infrastructure resilience against urban flooding.

The chief minister directed relevant departments to ensure close coordination and adherence to quality standards for all projects. He underscored Karachi’s role as Pakistan’s economic hub and the importance of these developments in facilitating economic activity and improving the lives of its citizens.

Local Government Minister Nasir Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to a comprehensive urban improvement strategy, highlighting ongoing efforts to resolve Karachi’s infrastructure problems efficiently and transparently.
