Overseas Pakistanis Lauded as Nation’s ‘Shining Light’ by Army Chief


Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir praised overseas Pakistanis for their commitment, labeling them as “Ambassadors” and a “Shining Light” for the nation. In a speech at the inaugural Overseas Pakistanis Convention, he countered negative perceptions by rejecting the idea of brain drain and instead highlighted the contributions of overseas Pakistanis as a significant brain gain for the country. The Army Chief’s comments were part of an effort to reshape narratives surrounding the Pakistani diaspora, emphasizing their role in the nation’s progress.



The convention, held in the capital, marked the first official gathering focused on acknowledging the contributions of Pakistanis living abroad. General Munir used the platform to express appreciation for their efforts in various fields, underscoring the positive impact of their work on Pakistan’s international image.
