Karachi: Only a small fraction of Pakistanis have used AI chatbots, with usage notably higher among educated individuals and younger demographics, a new survey reveals. According to Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, just 15% of respondents reported having used AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek, while 85% have not engaged with such technologies.
The survey, conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, involved a nationally representative sample of 787 adult Pakistanis across urban and rural areas in all four provinces. The research highlighted a stark contrast in chatbot usage based on education, with 52% of educated respondents indicating usage compared to only 8% among those with less formal education. Additionally, younger individuals were more likely to have interacted with AI chatbots.
The survey was carried out from January 15 to February 3, 2026, using computer-assisted telephone interviewing. The findings have an estimated error margin of ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level. These results underline the early stage of AI chatbot adoption in Pakistan, suggesting that technological engagement remains limited to specific segments of the population.
