NUST Kicks Off Annual Convocation Week 2024 with Ceremony


Islamabad: The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has initiated its annual Convocation Week, beginning with the “Master Convocation Ceremony” on October 28, 2024. Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, attended as the chief guest, presenting medals to students who achieved distinction. The event marks the commencement of a week-long series of ceremonies during which 4,068 graduates will receive degrees across various disciplines.



According to Press Information Department, graduates from all NUST schools will be awarded undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees in seven core disciplines, including Engineering and Technology, Computing and Information Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Arts and Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Business and Management. In his address, Dr. Siddiqui congratulated the graduates, their families, and faculty members. He emphasized the importance of the day as both a conclusion of academic endeavors and the start of new professional journeys, highlighting the role of family support in achieving academic success. He urged graduates to focus on contributing to national progress alongside personal achievements.



Lt Gen (Retd) Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari, Rector of NUST, in his welcome address, noted the significance of the day for both the institution and the graduates who are poised to enter their professional careers. He praised the students and their families for their accomplishments, attributing NUST’s success to its esteemed faculty and its development into a world-class entrepreneurial university.



Additionally, the 31st Convocation of NUST Military College of Signals (MCS) took place on October 23, 2024, with Lt Gen Muhammad Munir Afsar, Chairman NADRA, as the chief guest. Over 300 graduates were conferred with undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. degrees during the event.
