Lahore, In a significant development aimed at safeguarding child rights, former Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq, Chairperson of the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC), visited the Central Police Office to meet with IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar and other senior officials.
According to Punjab Police, the visit facilitated discussions on the prevention of child-related crimes and the formulation of a joint action plan to protect children’s rights, highlighting the commitment of both organizations to enhance cooperation. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar announced the appointment of police focal persons, including AIG Operations Dr. Asad Ijaz Malhi and AIG Welfare Amara Shirazi, to ensure effective coordination with the NCRC.
The meeting underscored the ongoing efforts to reunite missing children with their families through the ‘Mera Payara’ app and support for children affected by thalassemia and cerebral palsy. Additionally, the establishment of Tahaffuz Manzil, a foster home for homeless and destitute children, was discussed.
The visit by the NCRC Chairperson also included tours of various service centers and police stations, showcasing the improvements in police services and facilities. The collaboration between Punjab Police and NCRC signifies a proactive approach to child protection and service enhancement in the region.
