Islamabad: A high-level meeting of the National Coordination Committee on the National Youth Employment Policy (NYEP) convened at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad. The meeting was chaired by Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, and focused on advancing employment opportunities for Pakistan’s youth.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting gathered senior representatives from federal ministries, provincial Youth Affairs Departments, public institutions, academia, and development partners. Discussions centered on implementing the NYEP, which aims to create sustainable job opportunities and align young people’s skills with market needs. The policy targets a 100 percent absorption rate of new labor-force entrants by 2030 and aims to increase female labor force participation to 35 percent, focusing on sectors such as IT, agriculture, and health.

The committee reviewed the implementation plan, emphasizing key priorities and measures to enhance employment and economic prospects for the youth. Participants examined roles and responsibilities to ensure effective coordination among stakeholders.

Proposals for enhancing the NYEP were also discussed, highlighting collaboration among government bodies, the private sector, and academia. The meeting stressed the importance of clear accountability and result-oriented policy implementation to benefit the country’s youth through improved employment and skills development opportunities.
