NAB Recovers Forest Land Worth Rs. 1.3 Billion from Encroachers in Sukkur

Islamabad, The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has successfully reclaimed 1,094 acres of forest land, valued at Rs. 1.3 billion, in Sukkur, which had been occupied by 57 notable individuals. This retrieval comes after an intensive inquiry into allegations of encroachment and unauthorized land allocation involving officials of the Forest Department in Sukkur and other associated entities.

According to a news release by National Accountability Bureau, the operation to recover the land was initiated based on a directive from the Honorable High Court of Sindh Bench at Sukkur, dated 28.04.2020, in CP No. 1115/2009. The directive instructed the Chairman NAB and Director General NAB Sukkur to address the reported encroachments, unapproved allocations, and irregular mutations concerning the forest land in Sindh.

Throughout the in-depth inquiry, NAB Sukkur procured pertinent records from the Revenue and Forest Department detailing the illegal allocation of forest land to prominent figures. In collaboration with various federal and provincial departments of Sindh, NAB Sukkur embarked on a mission to reclaim the forest land. As a result of these diligent efforts, the 1,094-acre land, situated in Taluka Nara, District Sukkur, was successfully retrieved from the custody of the 57 influential individuals.

In the aftermath of the retrieval, revenue authorities annulled the earlier land allotments made in favor of private entities. The forest land has now been formally recorded under the ownership of the Forest Department of the Government of Sindh.
