Modi Government Faces Criticism Over Kashmir Dispute Resolution: APHC

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has criticized the Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that it poses a significant obstacle to resolving the Kashmir dispute. The APHC asserts that the resolution should be achieved through the exercise of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, as pledged by the United Nations.

The statement, released by APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas through the Kashmir Media Service, highlights the global recognition of the Kashmiris’ movement as a legitimate struggle. Minhas accuses Prime Minister Modi of being a primary barrier to the resolution, citing his alleged involvement in the 2002 Gujarat riots that resulted in the deaths of 3,000 Muslims.

The APHC claims that the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, influenced by Hindutva ideology, is appointing like-minded individuals to influential roles within the military and civil bureaucracy. This strategy, according to the APHC, aims to weaken the position of Kashmiri Muslims and other minorities in India, including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and Dalits.

The APHC also criticized those supporting the Indian occupation of Kashmir, suggesting that certain parties and leaders are pressuring resistance leaders to accept the status quo. However, the APHC maintains that the Kashmiri people remain committed to their cause, honoring the sacrifices of their martyrs.

Additionally, the APHC opposed the establishment of separate townships for Kashmiri Pandits in the Kashmir Valley, urging them to reintegrate with their Muslim neighbors. The statement condemned ongoing military operations, property raids, and curfews imposed by Indian forces, describing them as attempts to suppress voices of freedom.

The spokesman warned that the militaristic approach of the New Delhi-installed regime in the region presents a challenge to the international community, urging global intervention to support the Kashmiris against what it describes as Indian occupation.
