ISLAMABAD: A mock fire drill was conducted at Parliament House under the directives of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to evaluate current safety protocols and emergency response capabilities in the event of a fire.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the exercise involved officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), ICT Fire Brigade, and security staff from the Senate and National Assembly, among other personnel. The drill commenced with the sounding of the fire alarm, prompting the evacuation of employees and staff through designated emergency exits. The exercise aimed to test the effectiveness of evacuation procedures, firefighting strategies, and the coordination among various institutions.

The drill included an assessment of the fire brigade and security personnel’s adherence to standard operating procedures during emergencies, as well as the orderly evacuation of individuals from the premises. The primary goal was to enhance emergency safety measures at Parliament House, ensuring the safety of all occupants and facilitating a swift and organized response to potential emergencies.

Additionally, the exercise offered an opportunity to evaluate existing safety arrangements and coordination mechanisms to guarantee prompt and effective action when necessary.
