Minister Rana Tanveer Emphasizes Agriculture as Key to Pakistan’s Economic Stability


Islamabad: Minister for National Food Security, Rana Tanveer Hussain, emphasized the critical importance of continual innovation and development within the agricultural sector for maintaining Pakistan’s economic stability. These remarks were made during his meeting with Florence Rolle, the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Pakistan, where they discussed various aspects of food security and agricultural progress.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting highlighted the positive contributions of the FAO in Pakistan, with Minister Tanveer underscoring agriculture as essential for the country’s prosperity, food security, and socio-economic development. He declared agricultural development a governmental priority and outlined several programs initiated to support farmers and mitigate economic challenges through enhanced agricultural productivity.



The Minister also suggested that the FAO could play a vital role in providing expertise to address the impacts of climate change on agriculture. Florence Rolle, on her part, reaffirmed the FAO’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s agricultural sector, focusing on capacity building for farmers and researchers to foster growth and sustainability in the field.
