Mayor of Karachi Announces Infrastructure Improvements and Calls for Political Unity

Karachi: Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, announced new infrastructure projects and called for political unity during a visit to Lyari on Thursday. He emphasized the need to end hypocrisy through concrete actions and revealed ongoing efforts to enhance Karachi’s infrastructure, including the restoration of nine pumping stations in Lyari and the beautification of surrounding roads. Wahab urged political parties such as PTI, MQM, Jamaat-e-Islami, and PML-N to collaborate for the city’s welfare.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Mayor’s remarks came during the inauguration of Shaheed Waja Ahmed Karim Dad Family Park, Maula Madad Pumping Station, and Shakoor Shaheed Pumping Station. The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, CEO of Water and Sewerage Corporation Asadullah Khan, and other local leaders. The park, dedicated to Lyari’s social leader Shaheed Waja Karim Dad, is part of a broader effort to convert sewage facilities into public spaces. Mayor Wahab outlined plans to address water scarcity and load-shedding issues, including the installation of new pumps and generators.

Mayor Wahab also highlighted his recent meeting with the Prime Minister, during which he advocated for funds to support Karachi’s development. He stressed the importance of practical measures over promises, stating that the Pakistan Peoples Party is committed to solving public issues. While supporting constitutional protests, he warned against actions that inconvenience residents. Under the party’s leadership, Wahab assured the continuation of Karachi’s development, aiming for a prosperous future for the city.
