Mayor Karachi Announces Major Infrastructure Upgrade for Korangi Industrial Area

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced a significant infrastructure upgrade for the Korangi Industrial Area, a major contributor to Pakistan’s economy. The Rs 2 billion initiative aims to enhance business activities and support economic growth in the bustling industrial hub.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the rehabilitation project underscores a broader citywide development strategy that includes the construction of 149 new roads and other infrastructure improvements. The initiative aligns with the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to address the needs of Karachi’s residents, including those in Malir, Korangi, and Landhi.

At a recent ceremony organized by the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Mayor Wahab outlined plans to collaborate with the private sector to accelerate development and improve commuting facilities. He emphasized that public concerns would be addressed to build trust and foster community connections.

The mayor also highlighted ongoing projects such as the expansion of the Jam Sadiq Bridge and the construction of a new signal-free corridor. Efforts to resolve land-use issues in the Korangi Industrial Area and modernize the city’s firefighting system were also discussed. Coordination with relevant departments will continue to advance these initiatives and enhance the city’s industrial infrastructure.
