Karachi: A maritime security exercise aimed at enhancing coordination among Pakistan’s maritime sectors commenced in Karachi, under the auspices of the Pakistan Navy. Rear Admiral Faisal Amin, Commander Coast, attended the event as the chief guest, marking the beginning of Exercise SEA GUARD-25.
According to a statement by Pakistan Navy, SEA GUARD-25 is the second exercise in its series, designed to unite representatives from various sectors such as shipping, fisheries, law enforcement agencies, private entities, and NGOs. The initiative seeks to address the multifaceted challenges in the maritime domain by providing a platform for collaboration.
The opening session saw attendance from key organizations including the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, Pakistan Coast Guards, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, and others. Discussions focused on the exercise’s objectives and the role of the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) in ensuring maritime safety and security.
The exercise features scenario-based activities at sea and tabletop discussions to enhance the existing security mechanisms. Rear Admiral Faisal Amin expressed gratitude to all participants, highlighting their vital contributions to a safer maritime environment.
