Limited CCTV Camera Adoption in Pakistan: Survey Reveals Only 24% Usage for Security

Islamabad: CCTV camera adoption for security purposes remains limited in Pakistan, with only 24% of households and businesses reporting installation, according to a new survey. The majority, 74%, have not installed such systems, highlighting the gap between recognition and implementation of security measures.

According to Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the survey reveals that despite the acknowledgment of CCTV cameras as a security tool, their use is not widespread. The study, which was a telephonic survey conducted from January 15 to February 3, 2026, included 787 respondents from various urban and rural areas across all four provinces. The survey’s margin of error is estimated at ± 2-3 percent at the 95% confidence level.

These findings underscore a significant discrepancy in security practices across the nation, with fewer than one in four participants reporting the use of CCTV systems to safeguard their properties. The data collection method employed was computer-assisted telephonic interviewing (CATI), aiming to provide a nationally representative sample of adult Pakistanis.
