Peshawar, Zafarullah Khan Umarzai, Special Assistant to the Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Transport and Housing, met with officials from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cycling Association to discuss the development of bicycle racing and sports in the province.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting included Chairman of the Association Nisar Ahmed, KP Association President Shayan Ali Shah, General Secretary Muhammad Ali, BRT Chief Executive Tariq, and Supervising Special Assistant Coordinator Qaiser Khan Khattak. The Cycling Association briefed Zafarullah Khan Umarzai on the initiatives they have undertaken to promote cycling in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the meeting, Umarzai emphasized the importance of organizing sports activities to engage the youth and steer them away from negative influences. He encouraged the association to organize national sports activities and utilize available resources to showcase the province’s best talent in cycling. Umarzai praised the KP Cycling Association’s efforts and encouraged them to take significant steps to identify and support talented cyclists from the province. He expressed hope that these athletes would represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan in international cycling competitions, thereby enhancing the region’s reputation in the sport.
This meeting highlights the government’s interest in promoting sports, particularly cycling, as a means of youth engagement and talent development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
