Karachi: The Government of Sindh has announced the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the murder of Mir Raza, with the commission to be led by Sindh High Court Justice Umar Sial. The decision was confirmed by Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab at a recent press conference, where he emphasized the government’s commitment to uncovering the truth behind the case.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab expressed solidarity with Mir Raza’s family, acknowledging the tremendous pain they are experiencing and ensuring them of the government’s full cooperation. He stated that the initial investigation had encountered several challenges, including conflicting medical reports and a dissolved investigation team. However, with the establishment of the judicial commission, the government aims to provide clarity and justice.

Mayor Wahab recounted his visits to Mir Raza’s family, during which he assured them of the government’s support and the need for a thorough investigation. Despite initial disagreements over forming a judicial commission, the family later expressed confidence in the new investigation team headed by the DIG CIA. This led to a temporary deferral of the commission’s formation at the family’s request.

The case, which surfaced on July 29, has been marked by extensive discussions and allegations. Recent developments include a letter from Mir Raza’s lawyer to the Chief Minister of Sindh, prompting a review meeting with key officials. The Chief Minister reiterated the necessity of satisfying Mir Raza’s family and subsequently approved the judicial commission’s formation.

In addition, pertinent evidence such as Mir Raza’s phone and smartwatch has been sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency for assessment. Mayor Wahab affirmed that all government bodies, including the police, will fully support the commission’s efforts. The investigation remains active, with hopes that the commission’s findings will shed light on the circumstances of the case.

The Mayor stressed the importance of addressing any negligence or errors in the investigation, underscoring the family’s plea for justice. He assured them that the government would address any challenges they face during the process.
