Joint Investigation Team Probes Malicious Social Media Campaign Against Top Judiciary in Pakistan


Islamabad, In a significant development, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in Pakistan is conducting a thorough investigation into a widespread malicious campaign targeting the country’s top judiciary on social media platforms. This was announced by the Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, during a recent news conference.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Solangi, accompanied by officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and other relevant institutions, revealed that the JIT was established on the 16th of this month. The team’s formation is a direct response to the increasing concerns over the anti-judiciary campaign that has been gaining traction on various social media networking sites.



As part of their ongoing investigation, the JIT has scrutinized over 600 social media accounts. From these, 100 inquiries have been registered, indicating the scale and seriousness of the issue. Furthermore, Minister Solangi disclosed that 110 individuals have received notices in connection with the campaign. Notably, this list includes 32 journalists and 22 politicians and political workers, highlighting the campaign’s reach across different sections of society.



The minister’s announcement underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the judiciary and ensuring that any campaign against it is thoroughly investigated and dealt with in accordance with the law. The involvement of the FIA, PTA, and other institutions in this investigation demonstrates the coordinated approach being adopted to address this challenge.
