JKLF Honors Kashmir Freedom Fighters on Martyrdom Anniversaries

Muzaffarabad: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) commemorated the anniversaries of key figures in the Kashmir freedom struggle, reaffirming their commitment to the cause for liberation from Indian rule in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a press statement issued in Muzaffarabad, JKLF central leader Raja Haq Nawaz Khan honored Ashfaq Majeed Wani, Dr. Abdul Ahad Gooru, Jalil Ahmad Andrabi, Advocate Syed Shabir Ahmad Siddiqui, Basharat Raza, and the martyrs of Hazratbal, describing them as national assets vital to the movement.

Raja Haq Nawaz Khan highlighted Ashfaq Majeed Wani’s leadership and dedication to the Kashmir cause. He also remembered Dr. Abdul Ahad Gooru, a respected cardiologist and social activist, who was killed in a targeted attack on April 1, 1993, in Srinagar, allegedly by Indian agents.

The statement also revisited the case of human rights activist Jalil Ahmed Andrabi, who was taken into custody on March 8, 1996, by an Indian military officer and was later found dead on March 27. Andrabi was known for exposing human rights violations by Indian forces.

Furthermore, the statement recognized the sacrifice of Syed Shabbir Ahmad Siddiqui, an Islamic scholar, who was killed during the siege of Hazratbal Shrine on March 30, 1996. It also remembered Basharat Raza and other JKLF members who were killed days before the siege.

The JKLF’s tribute underscores their enduring commitment to the Kashmir freedom movement, as articulated in their statement through Kashmir Media Service.
