Islamabad: The Government of Japan has announced a grant of USD 53,419 to the Moawin Foundation for the establishment of a women’s vocational training institute in District Chakwal, Punjab. This initiative falls under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program and aims to empower women with vocational skills.

According to Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, the grant agreement was signed in Islamabad between Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, the Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, and a representative of Moawin Foundation. The project is set to construct the Women’s Vocational Training Institute in Village Dulmial and is expected to equip 240 women annually with skills in dressmaking, stitching, and fashion design.

Moawin Foundation, known for its work with underserved communities in Pakistan, will use the grant to build the facility on land donated by the local community. The initiative seeks to provide women in rural areas with practical skills and opportunities for economic independence, addressing the limited employment opportunities in these regions.

At the signing ceremony, Ambassador Akamatsu highlighted the project as a testament to Japan’s commitment to women’s empowerment and the strong bilateral relations between Japan and Pakistan. The GGP Program will continue to support local NGOs in enhancing grassroots human security in Pakistan.
