Hong Kong: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan participated in the opening ceremony of the 11th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong, engaging with political leaders, ministers, and business executives from partner countries of the Belt and Road Initiative. The event served as a platform for high-level discussions on regional connectivity and trade cooperation.

According to Press Information Department, before the summit’s official opening, Khan attended a Welcome Banquet hosted by John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The gathering included ministers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, as well as the Deputy Prime Minister of Laos and China’s Vice Minister of Commerce, among other dignitaries and business leaders.

During the banquet, Khan held discussions with fellow ministers and dignitaries, exchanging views on the Belt and Road Initiative’s potential benefits for economic development and global trade. He also met with notable figures such as Chief Executive John Lee and China’s Vice Minister of Commerce, along with commerce ministers from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The summit, which formally commenced on September 9, featured addresses from several international leaders, including the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, the Vice President of Uruguay, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Laos. These speeches emphasized the importance of enhanced trade, investment, and regional connectivity under the Belt and Road framework.

Pakistan’s participation extended to a dedicated stall at the summit, showcasing its trade, investment, and business potential to international delegates. Jam Kamal Khan is scheduled to deliver a Special Address on September 10, focusing on Pakistan’s perspective on trade and regional cooperation within the Belt and Road framework.
