Islamabad: Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, has underscored the necessity of converting academic knowledge and research into actionable solutions for the economic growth of Pakistan. Speaking at the conclusion of the PUAN Economic Policy Challenge 2026 in Islamabad, he highlighted the importance of assessing economic challenges to devise effective policy responses.
According to Press Information Department, the event, organized by the U.S. Embassy, United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan, Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network, and Accountability Lab Pakistan, gathered young professionals and alumni. The Minister stressed the value of applying knowledge to real-world problems and encouraged participants to use their expertise to address economic challenges and contribute to policy-making.
The Minister acknowledged the role of the United States in fostering educational and professional ties with Pakistan and emphasized the significance of alumni networks in maintaining these linkages. He noted ongoing economic reforms and regulatory changes aimed at improving Pakistan’s business environment, including the establishment of the Business Facilitation Centre in Islamabad.
Furthermore, he highlighted the potential of Special Economic Zones in promoting industrial ventures and the importance of enhancing exports and industrial productivity. The Minister also addressed the critical role of the Pakistan-U.S. economic relationship and the potential for further cooperation in various sectors.
The Minister concluded by expressing confidence in the participants’ ability to apply their knowledge practically, contributing to the nation’s economic development.
