Islamabad Police Arrest Two in Extortion Crackdown


Islamabad: Islamabad Police have intensified their efforts against extortion activities, leading to the arrest of two individuals allegedly caught in the act of collecting extortion money. According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests were made following complaints of extortion and harassment directed at citizens in the Ghouri Town area.



SP Swan Zone Muhammad Khurram Ashraf, responding to these complaints, formed a special police team to address the issue. The team, employing surveillance and strategic methods, apprehended the suspects as they were purportedly collecting illicit funds. A case has been lodged at Koral Police Station, and an investigation is ongoing.



The suspects are accused of intimidating residents and plot owners, demanding money under the guise of security fees. SP Ashraf emphasized the resolve to pursue legal actions against anyone engaging in such illegal activities, assuring that the protection of citizens remains a priority.



Additionally, police teams are actively working to respond swiftly to any further citizen reports and are making efforts to locate other individuals potentially involved in similar extortion schemes. SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza commended the operation’s success and reinforced that the police would continue to use all resources available to combat crimes threatening public safety.
