ISLAMABAD: In a concerted effort to curb criminal activities, Islamabad Police have arrested 68 individuals, recovering significant quantities of drugs and illegal weapons as part of a citywide crackdown. This operation aligns with directives from Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi aimed at enhancing public safety across the federal capital.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operations led to the arrest of 22 individuals involved in drug peddling and illegal arms possession. Confiscated items included 1,914 grams of ice, 1,220 grams of hashish, 41 bottles of liquor, and 11 pistols of varying calibers, along with ammunition. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the detainees, with investigations ongoing.

Additionally, the police, under a special campaign targeting proclaimed offenders and those with criminal records, apprehended 11 individuals wanted by the courts.

SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza affirmed the police’s commitment to protecting citizens’ lives and property, noting that efforts under the “No to Weapon” campaign focus on eliminating illegal weapon possession and reducing incidents of public disorder. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging the public to report suspicious activities to enhance safety and security in Islamabad.
