ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested 69 individuals in a crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession, recovering a significant haul of drugs and firearms in the process.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests were made following directives from Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to intensify efforts against criminal activity in the federal capital. The police operations led to the apprehension of 12 suspects involved in drug and illegal weapons activities. Authorities seized 1,590 grams of Ice, 510 grams of hashish, two guns, and five pistols, along with ammunition, from the suspects. Legal cases have been filed against those arrested, and investigations are ongoing.

In a separate initiative targeting proclaimed offenders and individuals with criminal records, police detained 57 additional suspects. SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza emphasized the department’s dedication to safeguarding citizens and clamping down on illegal weapon possession through the “No to Weapon” campaign. He also highlighted the efforts to capture offenders and ensure quick access to justice.

Raza encouraged residents to report suspicious activities to local police stations or the Pucar-15 emergency helpline, fostering a collaborative effort to enhance security in Islamabad.
