ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested 22 individuals as part of a city-wide operation aimed at curbing crime and enhancing public safety. In the course of the operation, authorities seized drugs and illegal weapons, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining law and order in the federal capital.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the crackdown follows directives from Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and involves a multi-pronged strategy targeting criminal activities. Police teams apprehended 17 individuals on charges related to drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 1,389 grams of ice, 21 bottles of liquor, and 11 pistols accompanied by ammunition. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the detainees, and investigations are ongoing.

In conjunction with the primary operation, a special campaign focused on apprehending proclaimed offenders and individuals with existing criminal records led to the arrest of five wanted persons. SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza emphasized the police’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ lives and property, particularly through the “No to Weapon” initiative, which targets the possession and use of illegal firearms.

Raza further noted the importance of arresting individuals with prior offenses and ensuring quick judicial processes for citizens. He encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to local police stations or the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline, promoting collaboration between the community and law enforcement to enhance security across Islamabad.
