ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested 22 individuals as part of a crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession across the federal capital. According to Islamabad Capital Police, these operations were conducted under the directives of Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aimed at reducing crime and enhancing the safety and security of citizens.

As part of the efforts, 17 individuals were apprehended for involvement in drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. The police confiscated 2,686 grams of Ice, 610 grams of hashish, two Kalashnikovs, and six pistols, along with ammunition. Legal cases have been initiated, and investigations are ongoing.

In a parallel campaign, five wanted offenders were arrested during efforts targeting proclaimed offenders and individuals with previous criminal records. SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza emphasized the police’s commitment to protecting citizens’ lives and property. He highlighted the “No to Weapon” campaign, which focuses on combating illegal weapon possession and display, as well as aerial firing.

He also urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to their nearest police station or through the Pucar-15 emergency helpline, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in enhancing security.
