Islamabad: In an initiative aimed at nurturing youth engagement in legislative practices, Pakistan’s National Assembly hosted a Mock Parliament Session as part of the closing events of the Youth Internship Program 2025. The event gave young interns a chance to gain firsthand experience of parliamentary procedures.
According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, the Youth Internship Program, initially launched during the previous tenure of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has played a crucial role in familiarizing students with the workings of parliamentary affairs. The program underscores a commitment to equipping young individuals with the necessary skills for political engagement.
During the session, interns engaged in legislative debates, participated in Question Hour, and held mock ministries accountable for key national issues. They moved bills, introduced resolutions, and proposed amendments, simulating the demands of legislative proceedings.
The experience challenged interns to analyze national concerns, express informed viewpoints, and participate in structured debates. This practical exposure reinforced the principles of legislative scrutiny and evidence-based policymaking, helping to cultivate a generation of politically conscious citizens.
Secretary-General of the National Assembly, Mr. Tahir Hussain, commended the interns for their engagement in constructive discourse and their dedication to addressing real-world challenges. He encouraged them to continue their involvement in the democratic process beyond the internship experience.
The session concluded with a group photograph in the National Assembly Hall, symbolizing the spirit of engagement and leadership among the young participants.
