Interior Minister Naqvi Orders Crackdown on Drug Mafia to Safeguard Future Generations


Rawalpindi: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the initiation of a rigorous crackdown against the drug mafia, aiming to combat the escalating drug menace and safeguard future generations.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting held at the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Headquarters in Rawalpindi, Naqvi called for the development of a comprehensive strategy to address this issue, including measures to halt the online sales of drugs. Highlighting the destructive impact of drugs, particularly the substance known as ice, on families, Naqvi emphasized the need for immediate and diverse actions to curtail the rising trend of drug use.



The meeting resolved to intensify efforts against the sale and purchase of drugs within educational institutions, including hostels and universities. Consultations are planned with provincial authorities to align and enhance efforts nationally. A joint meeting involving federal and provincial departments, which will include Provincial Ministers for Excise and Inspectors General of Police, is scheduled for the end of the month.



Additionally, Naqvi was briefed on the ANF’s operational performance and challenges. He expressed appreciation for the ANF’s efforts against drug traffickers nationwide, despite facing resource constraints.



The Interior Minister also paid homage to the martyrs of the ANF by laying a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial, offering prayers, and planting a sapling at the headquarters’ lawn, symbolizing growth and renewal in the fight against drugs.
