Raipur: Indian forces have killed two members of the tribal community in the state of Chhattisgarh, according to reports from Kashmir Media Service. The incident occurred during a cordon and search operation conducted by Indian paramilitary forces and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) in the forests of Kilam-Bargum villages within the Bastar region.
Police officials have claimed that the individuals were Naxalites, who collectively had a bounty of INR13 lakh on their heads. They were reportedly killed along the Kondagaon-Narayanpur border.
The operation follows a similar incident on April 12, where three tribal men were killed by Indian forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. The forces involved in that operation included the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force, and the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA). Authorities had also identified these individuals as Maoists.
In 2025, over 140 members of the tribal community have been killed in various operations across the state, with 123 of these incidents occurring in the Bastar region, as per the report from Kashmir Media Service.
