IG Punjab Praises Police for Successful New Year’s Night Security Operations

Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has commended the police force for its effective security measures on New Year’s Night, ensuring a peaceful celebration across the province. Senior officers, including Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and traffic officers, were actively involved in patrolling and monitoring activities throughout the night.

According to Punjab Police, coordinated efforts by various units such as the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), Elite Force, Traffic Police, and Anti-Riot Force (ARF) resulted in minimal disturbances. Legal actions were taken against individuals involved in hooliganism, aerial firing, and other offenses. A total of 384 suspects were arrested, and 367 cases were registered. The breakdown of arrests includes 98 for aerial firing, 83 for wheelieing, and 203 for alcohol-related offenses. Additionally, over 83 motorcycles were seized for violations, and authorities confiscated 80 pistols, 4 rifles, 7 shotguns, 3 Kalashnikovs, and more than 5,000 liters of alcohol.
