IG Punjab Advocates Modern Policing and Public Service Focus in Address to Young Officers

Lahore, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the importance of IT-based policing and urged young officers to focus on modern skills and trends to improve public service delivery during a meeting with Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASsP) from the 50th Common Training Program (CTP) at the Central Police Office (CPO). He encouraged the officers to adopt a proactive approach in their careers and engage in challenging postings to gain practical experience.

According to Punjab Police, Dr. Anwar addressed a delegation of 12 ASsP who were on a study visit to the CPO in Lahore. He highlighted the need for free registration of crime, swift resolution of citizen complaints, and effective investigation, emphasizing an open-door policy for the police force. The IG underscored the value of community policing and direct engagement with citizens, advising the young officers to prioritize the welfare of their subordinates and view their roles as a form of public service.

Dr. Anwar also recommended that young officers embrace challenging postings early in their careers to gain valuable experience in both rural and urban settings. He noted that approaching policing as a noble profession, rather than just a job, would contribute to their success and the betterment of public service.

During the visit, the young officers attended training lectures and briefings on various police operations, including crime control, traffic management, and public service delivery projects. They toured several key facilities, such as the Khidmat and Tahaffuz Markaz Liberty, Meesaq Center, and Special Initiative Police Station Gulberg, to learn about the latest projects using IT technology to improve public service. The officers also visited Abshar Khidmat and Driving Center Shadman and the Police Animal Rescue Center.

The under-training ASsP had the opportunity to interact with IG Punjab Dr. Anwar and other senior police officers, asking questions and seeking guidance on various policing topics. Dr. Anwar’s message to the young officers underscored the importance of innovation, public service, and a commitment to the well-being of both citizens and police personnel.
